Reviews
We’ve eaten at some of the greatest restaurants in the world. This restaurant may have cracked our top 5.
It’s a beautiful mom and pop restaurant with just purely exceptional food. To start with, they steered us away from an €80 bottle of wine to a €30 bottle of wine that was fantastic. From there, we simply told them “feed us we are hungry” and they brought out a ton of amazing dishes, one after another.
We left so satisfied, so enamored, so much in love with this restaurant. We will be back in Rome in a week and will be back.
What a find this restaurant is! Based on a recommendation in a recent CAA ( Canadian Automobile Association) magazine, we booked a reservation before arriving in Rome. Seated in a narrow unassuming street, we were served with close attention and aid in making menu choices. An inexpensive red wine was chosen, and we started our meal with a complimentary morsel from the chef. We each had the Appetizer of the House, a Chef’s surprise, a zucchini/almond creation with cream.
Another complimentary serving, then pasta. I had Mezzemaniche alla carbonara with Truffle, my wife had Burrata Ravioli. Mains were Sautéed Mussels and Clams, and a trio of Meatballs in a potato purée.
We had no room for dessert. Maybe next time!
There is nothing fast food here. Everything is prepared with detail to quality and taste.
This restaurant is an absolute gem just a few hundred meters from a busy a touristy strip.
From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Recommendations for the appetizers were delicious, unique, and left us excited about everything else to come!
Our pasta (Carbonara with truffle and ravioli stuffed with burrata) were some of the best pasta dishes we've had in Italy, and the wine was top notch. Would go back every night of the week. A family run eatery, sincere and passionate about everything they put on the plate. A pleasure to experience and excellent value for money. Thank you for a wonderful evening, we will be sharing this with our friends next time they visit Rome!
We had such a fantastic experience and delicious dinner here on my birthday! It was the best food and service we had in Italy. The staff went above and beyond in providing excellent service and making sure I had a special night.
We ordered the “chefs appetizer” which was a coursed antipasti of several creative small bites. We then shared the Lamb Ragu and Cacio e Pepe, everything was delicious.
It is in a touristy area but this is by no means at all a tourist trap. The ambience is romantic and charming- a true gem in Rome!
Thank you
I had high expectations for this place given the high praise in many reviews. We had the carbonara and the meatballs. Meatballs were outstanding and a must. The carbonara wasn’t anything more spectacular than other carbonaras we tried throughout italy. Very al dente. Atmosphere was nice as it is tucked away from the busy tourist filled streets in a back alley however many people walk by if you eat outside to try to sell you things (Very annoying while trying to enjoy a romantic dinner). The other odd thing was that before giving us the bill, our waitress asked if we would be paying cash or card and if we were tipping. Very off-putting. If that’s all of a sudden an expectation in Italy then that’s news to us and perhaps they should consider changing their credit machines to accept a tip that way. We had no more cash as it’s our final days in Italy. Not sure we felt like tipping after that anyway. In our Canadian culture we don’t exactly talk about tipping though it’s part of our routine as our servers are paid less than minimum wage and provide consistent service throughout the meal. Overall this was a fine meal but not an experience worth repeating.
You just Have To come to this place. Food was something else, the taste and quality of the food was crazy good, the owner was the nicest person of Roma, and god the Truffle was mind blowing, those Carbonara Mama Mia! Just go there or you'll def miss something out!
AMAZING! I would come back here everytime when visiting Rome. Step away from the busy tourist streets and tucked away is this diamond in the rough. Come hungry and for foodies like myself, take that leap of faith and order the Chef's choice appetizer tasting. Each dish was a pleasant delectable surprise. If still hungry afterward, you must have one of their first or second courses. We shared the carbonara and the ravioli stracchino. One word... delicious! If you still happen to have room, try a dessert. Ours, just like everything before it, was tasty. The staff were also wonderful.
This evening was up there among the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had. The food was high quality, exceptional. The ambience was that of a chic, warm gathering of old friends, hidden in the bustling center of old Rome. The owners were welcoming and attentive, making us feel immediately at home. Great wines, and again, THE FOOD!
